The person behind it

Meet Joe

I'm Joe, the one behind Dig of the Stump. I've been a tree surgeon for more than 20 years — I started out at King's Forest Tree Services, then moved east to the Waveney Valley and set up on my own.

Since then I've worked for tree firms and private clients across England, and on jobs as far away as the grounds of the Jordanian Royal Family. These days I'll turn my hand to just about any tree work across East Anglia, whether it's a homeowner's garden or a big dismantle for another firm.

Historical subcontract work for firms across the region, including Eastern Tree Surgery (ETS).

What we do

Our Services

Tree Felling & Removal

Removing unwanted, dead or dangerous trees. Felled whole where there's room, or taken down in sections where there isn't — then cleared away.

Pruning & Crown Work

Crown reduction, thinning, lifting, deadwooding and pollarding to keep a tree healthy, safe and the right shape for its spot.

Stump Grinding & Removal

Grinding stumps out well below ground level so you can re-turf, replant or pave over. No trip hazard, no regrowth.

Hedge Trimming & Site Clearance

Overgrown hedges cut back and shaped, brambles and scrub cleared, and neglected plots brought back under control.

Technical Dismantling

Rigging and sectional take-downs for trees in tight or high-risk spots — over roofs, fences, cars and next door.

Planting & Replanting

Supplying and planting new trees, and moving established ones. The right species, in the right place.

Tree Surveys & Advice

A straight assessment of a tree's health, safety and what work it needs — including advice on TPOs and conservation areas.
